10 Use Instructions for NIOSH-approved full facepieces
Cleaning and disinfecting procedure
Remove any accessories from the facepiece and clean them
separately
1)
. (Exception: The Dräger FPS-COM-PLUS can
remain fitted to the facepiece.)
Clean all parts with lukewarm water and 1008 GREEN LIQUID
HAND DISH WASH using a soft cloth.
Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
Prepare a disinfectant bath containing water and 800 SPUR-TEX
disinfectant (max. temperature: 86 °F/30 °C, concentration:
2 fl.oz. per 1 gallon/60 ml per 3.79 l).
Place the parts to be disinfected into the disinfectant bath
(duration: 15 minutes).
Thoroughly rinse all parts under running water.
Dry all parts in the air or in a drying cabinet (max. temperature:
140 °F/60 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not shake the
facepiece in order to remove water.
Mount the accessories if necessary.
Alternative cleaning and disinfecting procedure
Remove any accessories from the facepiece and clean them
separately

remain fitted to the facepiece.)
Prepare a cleaning solution containing water and NEUTRAL
DISINFECTANT CLEANER (max. temperature: 86 °F/30 °C,
concentration: 1 fl.oz. per 2 gallons/30 ml per 7.57 l).
Immerse the facepiece in the solution (duration: 10 minutes).
Make sure that all parts are wetted.
Thoroughly rinse all parts under runing water.
Dry all parts in the air or in a drying cabinet (max. temperature:
140 °F/60 °C). Do not expose to direct sunlight. Do not shake the
facepiece in order to remove water.

Mount the accessories if necessary.
Leak tests
The leak test should be performed with one of the following test
devices

(1) Checking leak-tightness
Moisten sealing frame and exhalation valve with water.
Mount the facepiece on the test head.
Make sure that the face seal fits tightly onto all parts of the test
head. Inflate the test head, if necessary.
Adjust the connection piece with adapter tightly and produce a
negative pressure of 10 mbar (approx. 10cm H
2
O).
The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is below
1 mbar (approx. 1cm H
2
O) per minute. If the facepiece is untight, see
(2).
(2) Test with sealed exhalation valve
Remove exhalation valve disc.
Plug in the exhalation valve test plug.
Produce a negative pressure of 10 mbar (approx. 10cm H
2
O). If
the pressure drop is below 1 mbar (approx. 1cm H
2
O) per minute,
remove the exhalation valve test plug and insert a new valve disk.
Repeat leak test (1). If the facepiece is untight, see (3).
