en | Use
4 Use
4.1 Preconditions for use
Type and concentration of the contaminants must be
known. When checking the conditions of use, also pay
attention to whether additional protective clothing is
required.
When used with a powered air-purifying respirator, the
oxygen content of the ambient air must not fall below the
following limit values:
17 Vol% in Europe excluding Netherlands, Belgium,
UK,
19 Vol% in Netherlands, Belgium, UK.
19.5 Vol% in the USA.
For other countries, observe national regulations!
4.2 Preparation for use
4.2.1 Preparations before first use
Filters can only be connected to the powered air-purifying
respirator and not directly to the Dräger X-plore 8000
facepieces.
1. X-plore 8000 face shield only:
Adjust the head straps so that there is a distance between
the bump cap shell and the user's head (see fold-out
page, figure C1).
2. Adjust the distance between the bump cap shell/helmet
shell and the user's head:
a. Loosen the support ring from the two rear pivot bolts
and unlock the two front fastening studs by rotating
them 90°.
b. Place the two front fastening studs in the preferred
slots and secure in place by rotating 90°.
c. Lock the rear pivot bolts into the slots at the same
height.
3. If necessary, remove the transport foil from the visor.
4.2.2 Preparations before every use
WARNING
Scratched or damaged visors can restrict visibility or
impair the protective effect!
Replace scratched or damaged visors.
1. Inspect all components of the facepiece for cracks,
deformations or other damage, as well as wear and
correct fit.
2. Replace scratched or damaged parts.
3. If preferred, attach a protective foil (see "Replacing the
protective foil", page 13).
4.2.3 Put facepiece on
WARNING
Danger of injury or death!
Putting on the facepiece while the breathing air supply is not
correctly connected and switched on can result in injury or
death.
Correctly connect and turn on the breathing air supply. Put
on in the correct order.
1. Connect the facepiece to the breathing air supply with the
hose.
2. Turn on the breathing air supply.
3. Adjust the air outlet to the desired position.
4. Put on the facepiece with the visor folded up.
5. Adjust the support ring using the adjusting wheel (see
fold-out page, figure C3).
6. Manually extend the face shield sealing and fold the visor
down. Make sure the face shield sealing is completely
flush with the face and the ears remain free (see fold-out
page, figure C2).
7. X-plore 8000 helmet with PC visor HL1 only:
Place chin strap under the chin and adjust to the correct
length, so that the helmet sits firmly on the head.
4.3 During use
WARNING
Danger of injury or death!
If the breathing air supply fails, a build-up of carbon dioxide
and oxygen deficiency can quickly occur in the facepiece.
Respiratory protection is then no longer provided. There is
danger due to oxygen deficiency, CO
2 poisoning, and
penetration of contaminants from the ambient air!
Leave the danger zone immediately.
Do not fold up the visor when in use. The facepiece only
provides full protection once the visor is folded down
completely.
4.4 After use
WARNING
Danger of injury or death!
Danger due to oxygen deficiency, CO
2 poisoning, and
penetration of contaminants from the ambient air!
Do not turn off the breathing air supply until you have
removed the facepiece.
Only remove the facepiece when in a place where the
ambient air is no longer contaminated.
1. Clean the facepiece.
2. If necessary, maintain facepiece.
