WARNING
Loss of explosion protection!
Death or serious injury.
à Unless ordered otherwise, the actuator is supplied with non-Ex certified screw
plugs. Replace them prior to commissioning by appropriate cable glands to main-
tain explosion protection.
For explosion-proof actuators, additionally heed the points below:
• According to IEC/EN60079-14, actuators and the pertaining switching and distri-
bution devices have to be considered within the framework of the protective ac-
tions for the connected mains.
• When using a PTC thermistor in the motor, provide the pertaining certified tripping
device within the system.
• When using a thermal protector in the motor, provide the pertaining certified over-
current relay within the plant.
• When deploying the actuator in potentially explosive atmospheres, use cable
glands and screw plugs with certification for the respective application.
• Electrical connection of explosion-proof actuators is exclusively made via appropri-
ately certified connection terminals in compliance with the terminal plan supplied.
• To ensure required equipotential bonding, connect actuators via the outer earth
terminal to the equipotential compensation system, provided that no fixed and se-
cured metallic contacts with construction parts are available which are in turn con-
nected to the equipotential compensation system.
DREHMO actuators are not equipped with an internal protective device against fail-
ures within the power circuit.

Various options are available for actuator connections. Refer to Technical data [}35]
for precise indications relating to possible cable cross sections and, if applicable, per-
taining tightening torques.
