17.5.9. MALFUNCTION
If the Ethernet connection does not work as described in this manual, check the following
points:
Absence of a reaction by the device when commands are sent:
Devices of the SEFELEC 5x range have several types of possible interfaces, check
in the configuration menu that the Ethernet mode has been selected on the interface
line.
Check if the IP address of your device and your control device (PC) are on the same
network. (Modify the network mask if necessary)
The End of Message character must be the character LF (hexadecimal: 0A, decimal:
10). If this character is not sent, the device does not process the command received.
Check that this character LF is added to the characters of the command sent.
The first command that must be sent is the REM command, the latter is reflected by
the display of an icon symbolizing 2 rings of a chain at the top left of the screen and
the greying out of the keys, the device is then ready to process the other commands.
Warning: The first REM command must not wait for an XON character before
being sent.
The device goes into Remote and then seems to block
Before sending a new command, it is imperative to wait until the SEFELEC 5x range
device reports its availability by sending the XON character.
If a code arrives during the processing of the previous code, it can cause an incon-
sistent operation by the device or block it.
