Do you have a question about the Eddyfi Technologies Ectane 3 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Eddyfi Ectane 3 is an innovative, rugged, portable, and sealed electromagnetic testing (ET) instrument designed for non-destructive inspections of surfaces and tubes. It offers high-performance ET data acquisition and is suitable for various applications, including light, rugged, portable, and sealed environments.

Function Description

The Ectane 3 is a versatile instrument that supports multiple inspection techniques:

  • Eddy Current Testing (ECT): Utilizes SmartMUX™ technology for integrated, universal, and programmable eddy current array multiplexing, supporting up to 256 elements. It is capable of multi-technology inspections for tubes, including ECT, RFT, NFT, MFL, ECA, RFA, NFA, and IRIS ultrasound technology.
  • Remote-Field Testing (RFT), Near-Field Testing (NFT), and Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL): Supports these techniques for tube inspections.
  • Remote Field Array (RFA): Offers advanced capabilities for remote field array inspections.
  • Internal Rotary Inspection System (IRIS): Integrates ultrasound technology for comprehensive internal inspections.
  • Multiplexing: Features FA support with dedicated low-frequency multiplexor.

The instrument is controlled by a computer running Microsoft Windows® 8.1, Windows® 10, Windows® 11, and Eddyfi’s Magnifi® 4.8 or older running on a 32-bit operating system, as well as Eddyfi’s Magnifi® 5.0 or higher running on a 64-bit operating system.

  • Cleaning: The external surfaces (i.e., casing, and front panel) can be cleaned when necessary. The instrument should be off and the power cord disconnected. The instrument back to its original finish, the casing, and the front panel can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Stubborn stains can be removed with soft soapy solution. Do not use abrasive products or powerful solvents. The instrument should be completely dry before connecting the power cord and cables.
  • Battery Calibration: Batteries should be calibrated periodically. A standard battery charge followed by a deep discharge, and a complete charge, takes between 10 and 13 hours. Eddyfi recommends calibrating batteries at least every six months.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides guidance for troubleshooting common issues, including firmware corruption. In case of firmware corruption, the instrument can be started from a backup firmware using the firmware backup button located in the battery compartment.
  • Accessories: Eddyfi offers protective caps for connectors, a comprehensive array of adapters and specialty connectors, and optional battery chargers and remote controls.
