10.3 Side Scan Transducer Impedance
The measurement of a transducer’s impedance is affected by several external factors such as radiation
loading (measurement performed in air or water), how the transducer is positioned (relative to other
objects) and type of measurement device used. A transducer’s impedance is a function of frequency and
because the transducer is made up of ceramic elements, which have their own impedance variations with
frequency, there is not one value that can be used to describe an array. The in-air array impedance and
admittance are provided below (table 10-3). These values can vary by 10-15% from the nominal. As
with the capacitance, an extreme deviation from the numbers below will often be the indicator of a bad
transducer. These measurements cannot be made with a DVM or similar DC based device.

11. Mechanical Configuration
11.1 Electronics
The system electronics are housed in a 2000-meter rated aluminum pressure housing, drawing 0022244.
The pressure rating of the housing may/may not be the limiting factor in the overall system depth rating.
Verify all external component are rated to the planned deployment depth.
11.2 Opening of Pressure Housing
The Pressure Housing was sealed at 1 atm pressure. However, as the bottle’s interior is heated, the
internal pressure will also increase. An increase of internal pressure is also present when the pressure
vessel is filled with a heat dissipation fluid. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that the user slowly
