Installation
3.3.1 Connect the CXS/EH combination system inlet to your process system
The inlet connection is made with a standard ISO flange and Edwards trapped O-ring.
Details of connecting to the inlet of the CXS/EH combination system are given in the Manual A30151880.
3.3.2 Connect the pump outlet to your exhaust system
The outlet connection is a made with a standard DIN or ANSI flange and appropriate gasket.
Details of connecting to the outlet of the CXS/EH combination system are given in the Manual M52800880.
3.3.3 Connect the nitrogen purge gas / air pilot valve supplies
Nitrogen is a suitable purge gas for CXS/EH combination systems. If you want to use a different purge gas please
contact Edwards.
Clean dry air or nitrogen is a suitable gas for the pilot solenoid valves. If you want to use a different gas, please
contact Edwards.
Connections for the nitrogen purge gas and pilot valve supplies are shown in Figure 1.
Ensure that your purge gas supply conforms to the requirements given in the technical data section. If it does
not, the gas pipelines may become blocked or the system may be damaged.
Do not exceed the load limits on the pump-inlet and outlet flanges as specified in the CXS and EH
instruction manuals. If you do, there will be a risk of leakage of process gases, or of damage to the
pumps.
The ATEX compliant EH pumps rely on constructional safety for safe operation. If you will use the
ATEX compliant EH pump in a process in which dust or particles could enter and damage the ATEX
compliant EH pump, you must fit a suitable inlet filter.
Pipe the exhaust to a suitable treatment plant to prevent the discharge of dangerous gases or
vapours to the surrounding atmosphere.
Do not exceed the load limits on the pump outlet flange as specified in the CXS instruction manual
M52800880. If you do, there will be a risk of leakage of process gases from the pump, or of damage
to the pump.
Shaft seal purge supply must be connected and ensured in order to ensure long term reliability of
shaft seals and to ensure gearbox purge to the EH booster. The shaft seal purge gas supply must
be connected and switched on before the pump is started.
