Operation
M518-00-880 Issue A
4 Operation
The CXS/EH combination system is operated in the same way as the CXS pumping system, refer to M52800880. The
EH booster is controlled automatically by the CXS control system, and will operate as standard (with the inlet valve
fitted) as below. (Non-standard systems may operate differently and will be covered by a non-standard amendment
to this instruction manual).
Runs whenever the CXS pump is switched on-process (i.e. out of standby/green mode)
(Category 1/2 systems require the backing pressure to be below 100 mbar before the booster will start)
Stops whenever the CXS pump is switched off-process (i.e. into standby/green mode) or shut down
EH booster specific trips and alarms will only trip the EH booster and not the CXS pump.
These trips, and the reset requirements are specified below:
Table 11 - Trip/alarm reset requirements
In order to comply with the EH booster backing pressure requirements, the CXS pump on your CXS/
EH combination system must run at its nominal 100% speed (either 110Hz or 100Hz depending on
your system) when the booster pump is running.
CXS Pump speed control and PID is therefore prohibited on CXS/EH combination systems and must
not be activated. If it is, the CXS pump may not provide sufficient backing performance and the EH
booster may exceed the temperature classification and render it invalid. This can result in an
ignition of the pumped gases/vapours.
Trip/Alarm Reset process
Booster coupling purge pressure/flow (Category 1/2
only)
Booster stops. The warning LED illuminates (code
282.01
*
) after approx 30 seconds.
*
Fault codes are displayed on the optional PDT.
Automatic - booster will restart when pressure is
reinstated.
Booster water flow (Category 1/2 and Category 2/2)
Booster stops. The alarm LED illuminates (code 281.01
*
).
The warning LED illuminates (code 279.01).
Manual
†
- system required to be switched off process
then back on-process after the water flow has been
reinstated.
†
Intervention required through display module, PDT or microTIM.
Booster backing pressure (outlet pressure) exceeds
100 mbar (Category 1/2 only)
Booster stops. The warning LED illuminates (code
279.01
*
) after approx 30 seconds.
Automatic - booster will restart when pressure falls back
below 100 mbar.
Booster motor thermistor
Booster stops. The alarm LED illuminates (280.01
*
). A
warning is displayed.
Manual - a power cycle is required to reset the system
once the fault has been rectified.
