Pulley alignment:
Tool: 1 meter - 4ft straight edge
Verify the alignment of the pulleys by placing a straight edge on the exterior face of both
pulleys. When the alignment is correct, the straight edge will touch the belt pulleys at 4
locations.
If the alignment is not correct, move the bolt (3).
Verify the alignment and repeat the operation until the straight edge comes into contact with
all 4 points.
Retighten the four engine bolts (5, 6, 7, 8).
Remove the two metal plates between the engine base and the bolts (3 & 4).
Now retighten the guide bolts (3 & 4) against the engine, and tighten the locknuts.

Remove the chain guard. See “11.3.2. Removing the chain
guard”, page 52.
Check the tension of the chain.
If the chain is too slack, loosen the bolts (1 & 2) (M8, 13-
mm wrench).
Make the chain taut by tightening the nut (3) on the
threaded rod. (M6, 10-mm wrench)
