Changing a Sound within a Sequence or Song Track (Recording Program
Changes)
The TS-12 can change track sounds in a sequence or song, allowing you to change the sound that
is playing on the track as the track plays. There are two ways to do this. Both methods will have
the same effect, but the first is best suited for local tracks, the second for MIDI tracks.
To change a sound within a local track:
• On the Sequencer Control page, set the Record Mode to RECORD-MODE= ADD.
• Press Seq/Song Tracks 1-6 or 7-12 and select the track that you want to change the sound.
• Press Replace Track Sound, press the BankSet and proper Bank button to locate the sound
you want to change to. Don’t select the sound yet, just leave its bank showing on the display.
• Hold down Record and press Play to start the sequencer recording.
• At the point where you want to insert the new sound, press the soft button next to the new
sound. The track will begin to play the new sound and the change is inserted into the track.
• You can continue selecting new sounds in this mode as long as the sequence is in record. Each
time the change will be recorded.
Tip: To change the sound and install its effect as the current sequence or song effect, double-click the
Replace Track Sound button in step three above. Note that when Track STATUS=VOICE-OFF,
LOCAL-OFF, or MIDI-LOOP program changes +60 will not change the effect. This is good for
sending numbers above 60 to external devices.
To change a sound within a MIDI track:
• On the Sequencer Control page, set the Record Mode to RECORD-MODE= ADD.
• Press Seq/Song Tracks 1-6 or 7-12 and select the track on which you want to change the sound.
• Hold down Record and press Play to start the sequencer recording.
• Press and hold down the soft button next to the track on which you want to record the
program change.
• While holding down the soft button, type the number of the program change on the Bank
buttons beneath the display. For example, to record program change #12, press 1, then 2; to
record program change #106, press 1, then 0, then 6; and so on.
• At the instant you want the program change recorded, release the soft button. The program
change is recorded (and sent to the remote MIDI device) when the soft button is released, so
you can type the number in advance and let the button go at the exact instant you want the
program change sent.
