TS-12 Musician’s Manual Section 13 — Storage
15
This is the SCSI STATUS page, where you select the SCSI DEVICE ID from which you want to
load Sampled Sounds. It is important that each SCSI Storage Device in a SCSI network be
assigned a unique SCSI Device ID number — this will ensure predictable communication
between devices. Since the range of valid SCSI IDs is 0 to 7, it is possible to connect up to eight
distinct devices on a single network. The TS-12 is permanently assigned to Device ID #3, so no
other devices in the SCSI network can be assigned to Device ID #3.
The STATUS field will show one of five different values:
• INVALID - there is no device mounted on the current SCSI Device ID number
• FOREIGN - the volume on the current SCSI Device ID number is not an ENSONIQ format
• AUDIOCD - an Audio CD volume is on the current SCSI Device ID number.
• STANDBY - a removable media device is mounted on the current SCSI Device ID number, but
it contains no volume
• UNNAMED - an unnamed ENSONIQ format volume is on the current SCSI Device ID number
• xxxx### - 7 character ENSONIQ volume name
Pressing *LOAD* will display the lowest numbered Sample Sound file or Directory name in the
Root directory of the selected SCSI Storage Device. If no Sampled Sound files exist in the current
directory, the file TYPE parameter will be automatically set to TYPE=DIRECTORY, and the
lowest numbered directory name will automatically be displayed. If no sub-directories exist in
the current directory, the file TYPE parameter will be automatically set to TYPE=SAMPLEDSND
and the lowest numbered Sampled Sound file will be displayed.
Tip: Pressing Storage then *LOAD* , or pressing Storage twice, will display the contents of the last
viewed directory.
After the directory from a SCSI device has been loaded, pressing Storage, then the soft button
beneath SCSI, and the soft button beneath *LOAD* will always display the contents of the Root
directory.
