Flicker. Flicker is a cyclic variation of light intensity of lamps caused by fluctuation of the
supply voltage and is typically a symptom of voltage disturbance caused by using large
fluctuating loads.
Measurement Modes:
PQ Meter
PQ Logger
Configuration:
Select the lamp-model voltage applied within the Flicker measurement algorithm. Make
sure the lamp model selection matches the Nominal Voltage setting unless the
measurement includes the use of voltage transducers. In this case make sure to select a
lamp-model voltage that matches the Nominal Voltage definition of the associated low
voltage grid.
Use Match Nominal Voltage to automatically select the lamp model voltage and frequency
based on the configured nominal voltage and frequency.
Measurement:
Pinst
Interim value of the flicker meter useful for troubleshooting
Pst short-term flicker
evaluation based on an observation period of 10 min
Plt long-term flicker
a rolling sequence of 12 Pst values. After two hours measuring, the first Plt will be
calculated. As from two hours Plt is calculated every 10 minutes.
Pst, Plt 1, is an acceptable level, no annoyances
Pst, Plt >1, 50 % of humans find this annoying
