TIG welding
Warning! An electric shock can be fatal. If the machine is plugged into the
mains electricity supply during installation, there is a high risk of very serious
injury and damage. Only carry out any work on the machine if
- the mains switch is in the „O“ position, and
- the machine is unplugged from the mains
Warning! Operating the equipment incorrectly can cause serious injury or
damage.Do not use the functions decribed here until you have read and comple-
tely understood all of the following documents:
- these Operating Instructions
- all „Operating Instructions“ for the system components, especially the
„Safety rules“
Safety
Note! When the TIG welding process (8) is selected, or TIG pulsed-arc welding
(7) (TP 1500 TIG), do not use a pure tungsten electrode (colour-coded green).
With the TP 1500 TIG power source, the complete range of TIG-welding functions can
only be guaranteed if the TTG 1600 A welding torch is used.
General
- Insert the current plug of the TIG welding torch into the - current socket and turn it
clockwise to latch it
- Insert the current plug of the earthing cable into the - current socket and turn it
clockwise to latch it
- Tool up the welding torch (see the Instruction Manual for your torch)
- Connect the following to the remote-control unit connection socket (13) (TP 1500
TIG and TP 1500 RC):
- remote-control unit
- or control lead for TTG 1600 A welding torch
- Make an earthing connection to the workpiece
- Attach a pressure regulator to the shielding-gas cylinder
When using a gas-valve torch:
- connect the gas hose to the pressure regulator
When using the TTG 1600 A welding torch (TP 1500 TIG only):
- connect the pressure regulator with the gas hose to the shielding-gas connecting
socket (2)
- tighten the swivel nut
- Open the valve on the gas cylinder
- Plug the machine into the mains
