Troubleshooting
I’ve connected a new CM3000 to my computer for configuration but I can’t communicate with it
• If you are using a Windows computer, clear the ARP cache. Form the command prompt and with administrator
authorization, enter:
ARP –D IPADDRESS (e.g., ARP –D 192.168.1.104).
I’ve already programmed a CM3000 but can’t find the IP address
• Download the SpyGlass app from http://gofrontrow.com/files/documents/software/Spyglass_v110.zip and follow the
instructions in the PDF of the downloaded archive. Spyglass is a Java-based utility designed for discovering FrontRow
network devices such as the CM3000, which exist on your network.
The sound from the Blu-ray player, AppleTV and teacher’s computer cuts out for a few seconds
intermittently
• In a room with ambient noise the teacher’s microphone may pick that up, inadvertently invoking the automatic ducking
feature. You can raise the Threshold parameter as set in the Audio screen, though keep in mind that the teacher would
then need to speak louder. Alternately, you can set the Setback parameter to 0, which essentially turns off the ducking
feature.
I’ve connected the serial cable from the CM3000 to the projector and I’ve verified that baud rate
and other settings are correct, but I still can’t control the projector.
• Try switching the TX and RX wires. In a 9-pin connector the standard is to use pins 2 and 3 for TX and RX, but there is no
standard as to which is which. Most manufacturers use pin 2 for TX and pin 3 for RX, but over 10% use the reverse.
I’ve forgotten my password and need to reset the device.
• Resetting your CM3000 involves the same procedure as that for many FrontRow devices: briefly shorting the COM 1 RX
and TX terminals.
1. Create a shorting connector by inserting the ends of a piece of wire into a Phoenix connector where the RX and TX will
be when plugged in to the COM 1 port, and tighten the screws.
2. With the device powered down, insert the shorting connector into the COM 1 port.
3. Power up your CM3000.
4. After 3 seconds (one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand) remove the shorting connector.
5. If the Run / PGM LED is flashing blue the device has been reset to the default settings for the password, which will be
calypso, and IP address, which will be 192.168.1.103. Other parameters you may have set – including whether or not
a password is required to access the device – will be unchanged. If the LED is not flashing, repeat the procedure with
slightly more time or slightly less time.
6. Power cycle the device to end the flashing.
