Why my Frymaster FPRE117 Fryer does not heat?
    • M
      michelle77Aug 17, 2025
Your Frymaster Fryer might not be heating due to a couple of reasons. First, a drain safety switch prevents the heating element from energizing if the drain valve isn't fully closed, so make sure the drain valve is fully closed. Alternatively, there may be a failure in the circuitry of the fryer control system, preventing it from determining the frypot temperature. This will stop the element from energizing or de-energize it if already on. Failures can also occur in the contactor, element, or associated wiring.

How to fix Frymaster Fryer when controller won't activate?
    • C
      Caroline RiceAug 20, 2025
If the controller on your Frymaster Fryer won't activate, first check if the power cord is properly plugged in and verify that the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. If these are fine, the controller or a power supply component or interface board might have failed.

What to do if the filter pump won't start on my Frymaster FPRE117 Fryer?
    • M
      Michael CruzAug 23, 2025
If the filter pump on your Frymaster Fryer won't start, check these things: 1. Make sure the power cord is fully plugged in and the circuit breaker hasn't tripped. 2. See if the pump motor has overheated. If it's too hot to touch for more than a few seconds, let it cool for at least 45 minutes, then press the Pump Reset Switch. 3. There may be a blockage in the filter pump. To test, close the drain valve and pull the filter pan out. If the pump motor hums briefly then stops, a blockage is likely.

Why Frymaster Fryer does not heat after filtering?
    • A
      Allison SavageAug 26, 2025
If your Frymaster Fryer doesn't heat after filtering, it may be because the drain valve is open. This fryer has a drain safety switch that stops the heating element from working if the drain valve isn't fully closed. Make sure that the drain valve is fully closed.

Why Frymaster FPRE117 repeatedly cycles on and off when first started?
    • J
      Jennifer AllenAug 28, 2025
If your Frymaster Fryer cycles on and off when first started, it's likely in melt-cycle mode. This is normal for fryers with CM III.5 computers, Basket Lift Timers, and Digital Controllers, where the elements cycle until the frypot reaches 180ºF (82ºC). If you're not using solid shortening, you can cancel or bypass the melt-cycle. In fryers equipped with Solid State (Analog) controllers, the melt-cycle is controlled manually by means of the rocker switch to the right of the temperature control knob. If not using solid shortening, press the rocker switch to the OFF position to turn off the melt-cycle.

What should I do if the filter pump runs, but oil doesn't return to the frypot and there's no bubbling oil in my Frymaster FPRE117 Fryer?
    • M
      Mary NunezAug 31, 2025
If the filter pump runs but oil doesn't return to the frypot and there's no bubbling oil, there might be a blockage in the filter pan suction tube. To check, close the drain valve and pull the filter pan out from the fryer. Activate the pump. If bubbling oil occurs, there is a blockage in the filter pan suction tube. This blockage could be from sediment buildup or solidified shortening. Try using a thin, flexible wire to clear the blockage.

Why is the oil return very slow and bubbling oil occurs when the filter pump runs on my Frymaster FPRE117?
    • D
      Daniel GainesSep 3, 2025
If the oil return is very slow and bubbling oil occurs when the filter pump runs, there could be a few reasons: 1. Improperly installed filter pan components. If using filter paper or pad, make sure the filter screen is at the bottom with the paper or pad on top. Also, check that the O-rings are in good condition on the filter pan connection fitting. If using a Magnasol filter, verify the O-ring on the filter screen fitting is in good condition. 2. Attempting to filter with oil that's not hot enough. The oil should be near 350ºF (177ºC) for proper filtering. If it's cooler, the oil becomes too thick, slowing the return and potentially overheating the pump.

How to fix noisy, jerky, or erratic basket lift movement in Frymaster FPRE117 Fryer?
    • A
      Alexander SmithSep 5, 2025
If the basket lift movement is noisy, jerky, or erratic, it's likely due to a lack of lubrication on the basket lift rods. Apply a light coating of Lubriplate™ or a similar lightweight white grease to the rod and bushings to resolve this.

Why are the solid state controller trouble light and heating mode light ON on my Frymaster Fryer?
    • S
      Scott MyersSep 8, 2025
If the solid state controller trouble light and heating mode light are both ON, it could be due to an open drain valve or a problem with the latching circuits. Make sure the drain valve is fully closed. If it is, the issue is likely within the latching circuitry.

What does it mean when basket lift timer display shows on Frymaster Fryer?
    • T
      Tara RobinsonSep 12, 2025
If the basket lift timer display shows , this indicates a problem within the temperature measuring circuitry that is beyond the scope of operator troubleshooting. Shut the fryer down.
