Your notebook is available in several different versions. Most of the sections in this manual apply to
all models - any differences are pointed out separately. Some of the illustrations and features in this
manual may differ from your model and are for guidance only.
Your operating system (e.g. Microsoft Windows XP Home or Windows XP Media Center Edition) has
already been preinstalled and optimally configured so that you can be up and running from the
moment you switch on your AMILO for the first time.
Your notebook features the very latest technology so that you get the best performance from your
computing experience. Depending on which model you own, you have access to:
● up to 2 or 4Gbyte of main memory (RAM) Information on approved memory modules can be
obtained from our Technical Support team.
● a CDRW/DVD combo drive, or a DVD+RW, or a DVD±RW dual drive, or a Multi-format DVD
burner with double layer support or a Multi-format DVD burner with double layer support with
Label Flash to watch DVD movies and record your own disks
● S-Video out for connecting your notebook to your television
● an IEEE 1394 (FireWire) connection for high speed devices such as digital camcorders
● four USB ports which provide easy expansion with webcams, game pads, printers and more
● An infrared interface (CIR = Customized InfraRed) for operating your notebook with a remote
control
● an internal modem, LAN and optional wireless LAN for Internet access
● an ExpressCard slot for operating an ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54
● an integrated audio controller, two stereo speakers and one bass speaker (subwoofer) for
genuine listening pleasure
For even better output performance, you can even connect a microphone and an external
speaker.
● a memory card slot for transferring photos, music and videos clips quickly onto your notebook.
With the user-friendly BIOS Setup Utility you can control the hardware of your notebook and protect
your system better against unauthorised access by using the powerful password properties.
This operating manual tells you how to put your AMILO into operation, and how to operate it in daily
use.
