Connecting external devices
Under all circumstances, please observe the safety notes provided in the
"
Important notes", Page 15 chapter before connecting or disconnecting
any devices to or from your noteb ook.
Always read the documentation supplied with the device you wish to connect.
Never connect or disconnect cables during a thunderstorm.
Never pull at a cable when disconnecting it. A lways grasp the plug.
With some devices such as USB devices, it is not necessary to switch off
the no tebook and the device before connecting/disconnecting. For more
information about whether or not devices need to be switched off, please refer
to the documentation supplied with the external device.
Some of the external devices require special drivers (see the operating
system an d external device documentation).
Connecting an external monitor
An ana log monitor is connected to the analog VGA monitor port on the optional port replicator, with
a digital mon itor connected to the display port. The monitor output is simultaneously limited to a
maximum of two monitors (see "
Hot Key s", Page 44, Section "Swapping the monitor output").

► Switch off the notebook and the external monitor.
► Connect the data line from the external monitor to the desired monitor port.
► First switch on the external monitor and then the notebook.
You can also switch back and forth between the extern al monitor and the LCD
screen of the notebook, see chapter "
Hot Keys", Page 44.
You can display the same p icture on the external monitor and the
notebook LCD screen simultaneously.
