11.1 Hardware Overview
The EPM 9450/9650 meter with the Internal Network Option (Comm Option 1) has all the
components of the standard EPM 9450/9650 meter, plus giving you the capability of
connecting to multiple PC’s via Modbus/TCP over the Ethernet and providing a DNP LAN/
WAN connection. Additional hardware is not required to establish a connection from a
network to an EPM 9450/9650 meter with the Internal Network Option.
With the Internal Network Option, the EPM 9450/9650 provides an Ethernet Gateway,
allowing access to other Modbus/RTU devices. Additional connections can include a daisy
chain of standard EPM meters. A daisy chain can include up to 31 meters. You can install
repeaters if you need to connect more than 31 meters. (See Section 5.7 for repeater
details).
