13. ENGINE BLOCK - External operations
13.3. Dismantling and cleaning the cylinder head
1 - Remove the carburettor [ 8.2].
2 - Remove the exhaust mufer [ 12.1].
3 - Remove the cover and demount the spark plug
[ 13.1].
4 - Remove the starter assembly [ 6.1].
5 - Remove lid (5) which is secured with four screws
(6) and remove the washer (7).
6 - Unscrew the screws (13) and remove the cylinder
head (14).
7 - Remove the gasket (15).
8 - Clean the cylinder head (14) and cylinder sur-
faces (16).
9 - Carefully clean the inside of the combustion
chamber and remove possible deposits from the
valve seats.
10 - Turn the ywheel by hand to move the piston
and check the internal surface of the cylinder
(16).
11 - When mounting:
- the gasket (15) must always be replaced;
- Remount the cylinder head (14) screwing the four
screws (13) without fully tightening, then tighten
them to the given torque values, using a cross-over
sequence.
Take care that the pushrods are positioned cor-
rectly in their housings.
12 - Remount the items removed in the reverse order
used in dismantling.
