Adjusting brake travel
Your brake pads should hit both sides of the wheel rim at the same time. If this doesn’t happen you
will need to adjust them. If the brake arms are mis-aligned from a centre position so one side touches
the wheel rim before the other then follow these steps.
Pull the brake lever and observe any difference in
movement of the brake arms.
Locate the brake spring adjuster screws at the
bottom of the brake arm that is moving towards
the rim the slowest.
The brakes on either side of the wheel rim should
now appear symmetrical when applied.
Turn the screw slightly clockwise to tighten it until
the gaps are equal on either side of the wheel
and the brake pads touch the wheel at the same
time. You may need to loosen the screw on the
oppose brake arm by turning it anti-clockwise.
