Interfering Substance Interference Levels and Treatments
Ferrous iron
Causes a positive interference. (2 mg/L of ferrous iron produces a color equivalent to about
1 mg/L of tannic acid.) To eliminate interference of ferrous iron up to 20 mg/L, add one 0.2 g
scoop of Sodium Pyrophosphate (Cat. No. 14295-25) to the sample before testing.
Sulfite
Interference is eliminated by adding 1 mL of formaldehyde (Cat. No. 2059-32) to the sample
before testing the sample.
