Operating Instructions
A. Fire Safety
You can never be too cautious when it comes to
re safety. Please give serious consideration to the
following:
• InstallatleastonesmokedetectorandCOdetector
oneachlevelofthehome.
• Locate detectors away from the appliance and
closetothesleepingquarters.
• Followthemanufacturer'sguidelinesonplacement
andinstallationaswellasmaintainingregularly.
• PlaceaClassAreextinguishernearbytocontend
withsmallres.
• Intheeventofafuelhopperre:
• Evacuatethehouseimmediately.
• NotifytheFireDepartment.
B. Fuel and Fuel Storage
Pellet fuel quality can uctuate. This appliance is
designed to burnawide variety of pellet fuel, giving
youthefreedomtochoosethemosteconomicalfuel
inyourarea.

thatyouchooseafuelthatisrecognizedbythePellet
FuelsInstitute(PFI)
Pellet fuels are made from sawdust, or other wood
bers. The source material determines the ash and
heat content. Higher ash content fuel, or Standard
Grade, may contain bark, leaves, stems, or other
by-products.Higherash maynotmeanmoreor less
heatvalue, but itwill requiremore maintenanceand
cleaning.Lowashcontentfuel,orPremiumGrade,is
made fromonly the cleanest sawdust. Cleaningand
maintenancearegreatlyreducedwhiletypicallyhigher
heatvalueisexperienced.
APPROVED FUELS
• Wood Pellets- Any grade of wood or biomass
pelletizedfuel.Pelletsshouldbeeither1/4inchor
5/16inch(6-8mm)indiameter,andnomorethan
1½"(38mm)inlength.
• Shelled FieldCorn- Corn is approvedforuse as
afuelONLYwhenmixedwithpellets.Thetested
mixtureisupto50%corn.Sincecornisgrownas
afeedsource,andnotasafuel,therearemany
possible inconsistencies with regards toburning.
Becauseof this,youmaynotbe successfulwith
the maximum mixture, and may need to reduce
the percentage of corn in the mix. Corn should
haveamoisturecontentof15%orless.Cornfor
burningshouldbecleanandfreeofdebris,stalks
andpiecesofcob.

Readthe listof ingredientson thepackaging. Ifyou
arebuyingeldcorn,theonlyingredientlistedshould
beeldcorn.

ingested.

STORAGE
Fuelshouldbestoredinadryarea,preferablyindoors,
andwellawayfromtheapplianceclearancearea.
Corn, for mixture, should be stored in a sealed
containertopreventmoldgrowthandtodeterpests.
Remember, corn is a food source and will attract
rodentsandotherpests.
CAUTION

andamixtureofshelledeldcornandwood
pelletsONLY.Burningofanyotherfuelwillvoid
yourwarranty.
