Perform this test you drive with your child
and whenever you readjust the child restraint as your
child grows:
Rock the child restraint back and
forth and side to side to make sure
the LATCH or vehicle seat belt does
not lengthen or loosen, and the child
restraint does not move easily ❶.
The back of the child restraint (connecon point) should
not move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) in any direcon.
If the child restraint is loose or not properly secured,
repeat procedure OR nd another locaon for the child
restraint (see “Choosing an appropriate vehicle seat
locaon”, pg. 12).
