Note: The audio I/O are user-configurable, allowing any device to be
connected to any of the ports in any configuration.
4 The Connected Device dialog box opens asking which device you plugged
in. Check which device you plugged in, and click OK.

In the Analog section of the control panel, a corresponding image of your
selection is displayed, along with a color-coded cable image indicating
which port the device is plugged into.
If a device is connected incorrectly, a small red and white arrow appears
beneath the non-supported device, as shown in
Figure 2-32.

Note: If you plug in an input device and select an output setting from the
connected device list, a warning pops up indicating the device type
is not supported. For example, you cannot plug in a microphone
and select Line Out, because this device cannot perform the
function you selected.
