MOUNTING
4.3 Couplings
HBK offers bellows couplings for installation of the torque transducer. The following
points must be observed when installing:
1. Degrease the hub hole in each coupling half and the shaft ends with solvent (e.g. ace
tone).
2. Push the hub onto the shaft.
3. Adjust the air gap to the transducer, which should be min. 1mm from the transducer
housing, or push the coupling onto the shaft until it reaches the limit stop.
4. Using the full clamping length, align the coupling and shafts.
5. Tighten the clamping bolts of the clamp with a torque wrench (see Specifications for
the required torque).
Notice
Do not tighten the clamping bolts of the couplings until the shafts have been installed in
the coupling hubs!
The bellows coupling must not be stretched beyond the permissible compliance.
Input and output shafts must be free of grease and burrs.
Make the shaft diameters with j6 tolerance to obtain the preferred H7/j6 fit.
When selecting the coupling, the specifications of the transducer – and in particular the
maximum permissible mechanical stresses – must be taken into account in addition to the
specifications of the coupling.
4.3.1 Mounting position with couplings
The T210 torque transducer can be operated with bellows couplings in any mounting po
sition (horizontally, vertically or at an angle). Please ensure that additional masses are
adequately supported during vertical and inclined operation.
The specifications and the mounting instructions for the couplings can be found in the
data sheet of the bellows couplings.
CAUTION
The permissible axial and lateral forces and the bending moment limits of the torque trans
ducer must not be exceeded when mounting couplings!
Brace the coupling by the clamp when tightening the clamping bolts.
