7 Operation and special operation
The pump has no separate controls.
The pump is switched on and off and monitored by the control for the system
into which the pump is integrated.
The system control is not covered in these operating instructions.
7.1 Pumping the sump dry
NOTE
The restrictions specified below only apply to pumps of the types A2QE2,
BN2, and BN3. These pumps must always be submerged during operation.
Pumps of the types A2QR2, A2QR4, A2QS2, A2QS4, A2QE4, BE2, and
BK3 can be operated when they are immersed or when they are
permanently outside the liquid. They are NOT subject to the restrictions
specified below.
If the pump sump has to be pumped dry for cleaning, servicing etc., the
submersible motor has to surface and thus loses its cooling. This type of
operation has to be limited to a specific time and monitored carefully.
The maximum operating time with reduced cooling depends on the hydraulic
load, the ambient and medium temperature, and the speed at which the
pump surfaces.
10minutes are considered as a guide value for the maximum permissible
operating time of a surfaced pump at nominal output and 40°C ambient
temperature.
2minutes are considered as a guide value for the minimum cooling time
required between the time of complete immersion and the earliest
permissible restart.
