5. Refill the oil chamber with clean oil, see chapter Refilling the oil
chamber [▶37].
ü If the liquid is dark in colour and/or cloudy and/or remains viscous, a high
level of medium has contaminated the oil:
6. Dispose of the liquid as special waste.
7. Send the pump to the service centre to repair the mechanical seal on the
pump chamber side.
8.4.4.4 Refilling the oil chamber
1. Anneal the copper O-ring on the locking screw (1) or replace with a new
soft-annealed copper O-ring.
ü To fill the pump in a vertical position:
2. Stand the pump up.
ü To fill the pump in a vertical position, using the previously drained oil:
3. Pour the oil that has been separated from the water through a fine-
particle sieve or filter paper into the chamber, top up with new oil, if
necessary, until the oil level is just below the filling opening (between (2)
and (3)).
ü To fill the pump in a vertical position, using new oil:
4. Pour in new oil until the oil level is just below the filling opening (between
(2) and (3)).
ü To fill the pump in a horizontal position:
5. Turn the pump on its side so that the filling opening is turned approx. 45°
from its highest position.
ü To fill the pump in a horizontal position, using the previously drained oil:
6. Pour the oil that has been separated from the water through a fine-
particle sieve or filter paper into the chamber, top up with new oil, if
necessary, until the oil level is just below the filling opening.
ü To fill the pump in a horizontal position, using new oil:
7. Pour in new oil until the oil level is just below the filling opening.
8. Reinsert the screw plug (1) and tighten by hand.
9. Re-start the pump.
