5.2 Troubleshooting
This section describes what to check when you have a problem and suggests possible solutions.
Before sending the instrument to be repaired
If you believe your instrument might be damaged or malfunctioning, check the following information
before contacting your authorized Hioki distributor or reseller.
Symptom Check items Solutions
Nothing is
displayed on the
screen when I
press the POWER
button.
The instrument
won’t turn on.
• Has the power cord been disconnected? Properly connect the power cord.

• Has the Battery Pack been properly
installed?
Properly install the Battery Pack if it is
improperly installed. (p. 43)
• Does the Battery Pack have any remaining
charge?
Charge the Battery Pack.
• Check the output voltage of the AC
Adapter.
(If the adapter is not outputting 12 V DC, it
is broken.)
Contact your authorized Hioki distributor
or reseller. The AC Adapter cannot be
replaced or repaired by the customer.
Nothing is shown
on the screen.
• Is the backlight saver enabled? Disable the backlight saver. (See “7.1
Conguring Settings” in the Instruction
Manual.)
The instrument
does not respond
when I press
keys.
• Is the key lock engaged? Disengage the key lock. (p. 82)
• Is the key stuck in the depressed position? Release the key from its depressed
position.
No waveform is
displayed after
measurement
starts.
• Is the instrument displaying the [Waiting
for pre-trigger...] message?
• When using the pre-trigger function,
the trigger will not be accepted until the
instrument nishes capturing the pre-
trigger waveform.
When not using the pre-trigger, disable it.
(See “2.2 Enabling the Trigger Function”
in the Instruction Manual.)
• Is the instrument displaying the [Waiting
for trigger...] message?
• Recording will start when the trigger is
activated.
When not using the trigger, disable it.
(See “2.2 Enabling the Trigger Function”
in the Instruction Manual.)
• Has the waveform display been disabled? Enable the waveform display.
The waveform is
not changing.
• Are the cables disconnected?
• Do the cables have breaks?
Properly connect the cables if they are
disconnected or improperly connected.

• Check if an appropriate range has been
set.
Select a more appropriate range. (See
“1.4 Conguring Input Channels” in the
Instruction Manual.)
