drive tray
The hardware component of the HUS VM that houses disk drives and/or flash drives.
dynamic provisioning
An approach to managing storage. Instead of “reserving” a fixed amount of storage, it
removes capacity from the available pool when data is actually written to disk. Also
called thin provisioning.

flash drive
A data drive that uses a solid-state memory device instead of a rotating hard disk drive
to store information.
free capacity
The amount of storage space (in bytes) that is available for use by the host systems.

host I/O module
The hardware component that processes channel commands from hosts and manages
host access to cache. A host I/O module is also referred to as a channel adapter (CHA).
