  If a 5496 module physically connected to the Honeywell Control Panel isn't recognized, begin by checking the status of the 5496 green LED. If it flashes in a 0.5 sec on / 0.5 sec off pattern, the module likely hasn't been added to the system through programming. JumpStart can add connected 5496 modules, or you can add them manually. Ensure the correct ID for the 5496 module has been set via the DIP switches (ID#1 for the first, ID#2 for the second). If the LED isn't flashing, the wiring between the 5496 and the panel is likely incorrect. Also, measure the voltage from 5496 Terminal (+) to Terminal (-); it should be in the 27.2-27.4V range when AC power is present.

  If SLC devices are not being recognized by the Honeywell Control Panel (and a “Missing” trouble message appears), first check the hardware connections to ensure the wiring is correct. The positive side of the device must connect to Terminal 34, and the negative side to Terminal 33 on the main panel. For SLC devices, ensure they connect to the SLC loop via the SLC OUT terminals. Also, ensure that SLC devices have been addressed properly. For contact monitor modules, the DIP switch must be set to the correct address before power is applied to the SLC loop, otherwise the device will have an incorrect address. Finally, verify that the correct polarity has been observed for SLC device wiring.

  If SLC devices are not being recognized on the Honeywell Control Panel (and a “Missing” trouble message appears on the annunciator), it may be due to the SLC loop impedance being outside the required range. To check this, disconnect both wires from the terminal block at the panel (SLC devices can remain connected). Measure the impedance from positive to negative and from negative to positive; both measurements should be greater than 500 K ohms. If using T-taps, test each individually. Temporarily connect the positive wire to the negative wire of the SLC loop at the point farthest from the panel (SLC devices can remain connected). Measure the impedance from positive to negative and from negative to positive; both measurements must be less than 50 ohms.
