2-19. The original shipping cartonandpackaging ma-
terial, with the exception of accordion-pleated pads,
may
be
reusable,
if
undamaged. The Saleshervice
Office will provide information and recommendations
on materials to be used
if
the original packaging
materialis not available. Materials used for shipping
an instrument should include the following:
a.
A double-walled carton, see Table 2-1 for test
strength required.
b.
Heavy paper
or
sheets of cardboard
to
protect
all
instrument surfaces; use
a
nonabrasive material
such
as
polyurethane
or
cushionedpaper suchas Kim-
pack around
all
projecting parts..
c.
At least
4
inches of tightly-packed, industry ap-
proved shock-absorbing material such as extra firm
polyurethane foam.
d. Heavy-duty shipping tape for securing outside
of carton.
