Remote
and
Local
Functions
The
first
character
of
a
remote
command
puts
the
HP
3325B
in
Remote
Mode
which
causes
the
Remote
LED
to
illuminate.
The
Talk
and
Listen
LEDs
are
not
used
when
using
the
:^-232
interface
for
remote
control.
When
the
HP
3326B
receives
the
‘^LCL”
command
or
the
[Local]
front-panel
key
is
pressed,
the
HP
3325B
returns
to
front-panel
control.
Other
remote-control
commands
that
are
useful
for
RS-232
operation
are
ECHO,
RMT,
RST,
and
QSTB.
These
are
described
in
more
detail
later
in
the
chapter.
The
RS-232
interface
does
not
alert
the
controlling
computer
when
the
instrument
issues
a
service
request
(SRQ),
as
the
HP-IB
does.
We
recommend
checking
the
status
byte
periodically
with
the
QSTB?
command
when
the
RS-232
interface
is
used
for
remote
control.
