Th e c onn ec tor at each end of ea ch HP -IB cable ha s two sid es,
" male" and " female ". The " male" s id e mat es with the HP - IB
connector on an y HP-IB-compatible instrume nt , or with an y otner
suitable " femal e" connector. Tn e " female" s id e of the c onnector
pr ovid es it connecting point for the " male" co nnector of an y
other
HP-IB cable. This allow s c ables to be s ta cked to accomodate
up to
15 instrumenlson the bu s. The ma x imum length of cable thaI
c an be used to connect a group of Instruments s hould not be more
than 2 metres (
6.5 feet) times the number of instruments to be
interc
onned ed, or 20 metres ( 65 .6 (eet), whichever is less. The HP-

Printer 's rear panel. ( Not e, however. that the switch m ay not n ec e ss arily be on Ihe rear

Introduction
All of the Meas ur ement Display unit 's meas ur ement func ti ons c an be c ontr olled by an external

ntr oller, c onn ec ted v ia the HP - IB interface. When operated in this wa y, -
