Sensor
Module
A
Sensor Module is not required for making
RF
Frequency or
Frequency Error measurements. To make measurements without a
Sensor Module, simply connect a
50R
cable and Type-N adapter from
the HP 8901B’s
INPUT
port to the output of your signal source.
HP-/B
The HP 8901B enables you to fully automate your measurements. Refer
to your HP 8901B Operation and Calibration Manual for setup and
programming information.
Time
Base
A
time base input
is
provided on the rear panel of the
HP
8901B.
This
input allows you
to
connect the HP 8901B to an external 10
MHz
time base. The time base
circuitry
within the HP 8901B automatically
switches to the external time base and turns
off
its time base output
when an external time base
of
sufficient amplitude
(0.5
Vpp) is applied
at the input. To verify that an external time base is being used, key
in
15.1
SPCL.
The instrument will display a
1
if
the external time
base
is
being used
or
a
0
if
the internal time base
is
being used.
