Modem and Networking
Hardware and Software Guide 11–3
Using a Country-Specific Modem Cable Adapter
Telephone jacks vary by region and country. If you are connecting
the modem to a telephone line in a
region or country where RJ-11
telephone jacks are not standard, you must obtain a
country-specific modem adapter. Refer to the
“Modem Country
Selection” section for more details about using your tablet PC
internationally.
To connect the modem to an analog telephone line that does not
have an RJ-11 telephone jack:
Å
WARNING: To avoid the risk of electrical shock, fire, or damage to the
equipment, do not plug a modem cable into the network jack.
1. Turn the tablet PC display-side up on a flat surface near a
telephone wall jack.
2. If the modem cable has a noise suppression circuitry 1,
which prevents interference with TV and radio reception,
orient the circuitry end of the cable toward the tablet PC.
3. Plug the modem cable into the RJ-11 (modem) jack 2 on the
tablet
PC.
4. Plug the modem cable 3 into the country-specific
modem
cable adapter.
5. Plug the country-specific modem cable adapter 4 into the
telephone
jack.
