6 Troubleshooting and error messages
6-1 Troubleshooting
In general, the HP D300 Digital Dispenser requires proper USB communication between the PC and
the dispenser. When unusual events occur, the best first step is to shut down the Digital Dispenser
Software, then power off the Digital Dispenser using the rocker switch at the right rear of the
Dispenser, wait a few seconds and then turn the Dispenser back on, and finally, restart the
software. Then see if the problem encountered can be replicated. If the problem persists and
cannot be resolved using the simple procedures described below, call your Tecan Service Help
Desk for assistance. The phone number can be found at http://www.tecan.com/customersupport.
6-1-1 Problems with software
1. Generally, software problems can be resolved by restarting the software.
a. Save the current configuration if desired.
b. Close the software using the upper right X or select File/Exit.
c. Turn the D300 Dispenser off using the rear rocker switch.
d. Wait five seconds, then turn the D300 Dispenser back on with the rear rocker switch.
e. Restart the software using the desktop icon (the black HP logo).
2. The next step is to reinstall the software, either from the CD enclosed with the D300 Digital
Dispenser, or preferably from the *.exe file of the latest version available on the Tecan FTP
site: ftp.tecan.com

Password: HP+Tecan
This FTP site can also be accessed directly from the HP D300 Digital Dispenser software by
clicking on Help/About and then selecting the Go There Now link.
3. The software is installed in the C:\Program Files\HP-D300 directory, and the file ―HP D300
Digital Dispenser Operating Manual.pdf‖ needs to be in that same directory in order to be
launched from the Help/Operating Manual menu item. Default configurations are in
C:\Program Files\HP-D300/Configs and default reports in C:\Program Files\HP-D300\Reports

6-1-2 Computer issues
1. Hardware minimum configuration is listed in the Hardwaresection.
2. Computer issues may relate to hardware configuration or to driver problems. Driver problems
generate a ―device not found‖ error and can be fixed by installing the driver as described in
Insert the CD that was enclosed with the Dispenserand be sure to click on the Install
Driver button in the main Setup window.
3. Ensure that the D300 Digital Dispenser driver was installed correctly from the setup.exe file
using the instructions provided in the Insert the CD that was enclosed with the Dispenser
instructions, or preferably from the *.exe file in the latest version available on the Tecan FTP
site: ftp.tecan.com
