Smart Card reader assembly (includes cable) 693312-001
Before removing the Smart Card reader assembly, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 56), and then remove the following components:
a. Service cover (see

b. Hard drive (see
Hard drive on page 59)
c. WLAN module (see
WLAN module on page 62)
d. WWAN module (see
WWAN module on page 64)
e. Fan (see
Fan on page 68)
f. Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 69)
g. Base enclosure (see
Base enclosure on page 76)
h. System board (see
System board on page 88)
Remove the Smart Card reader assembly:
1. Remove the two Phillips PM2.0×3.4 screws (1) that secure the Smart Card reader assembly to the
top cover.
2. Slide the Smart Card reader assembly (2) to the left to release it from the clips built into the
top cover.
