3.
Disconnect the AC power cord(s) from the AC outlet(s) and then disconnect the cord(s) from the
server.
4. Be sure that the power LED indicator is turned off and that the fan noise has stopped.
5. Disconnect all external peripheral devices from the serv er .
WARNING: To completely remove a ll p ower from the system, disconnect all power cords from the
server.
WARNING: Hazardous v o ltages are pres ent inside the server. Always disc onnect AC power fr om
the server a n d other associat ed assemblies while w orking inside the unit. Serious injury may result if
this warning is not ob served.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of injury from electric shock, disc on n ect all power cords to
completely remove power from the syste m.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal in j ury from hot surfaces, allow the internal system
components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: Protect the server from power fluctuations and temporary interruptions with a regulating
uninterruptible power supply (UPS). This device protects the hardware from damage caused by
power surges and voltage spikes, and keeps the sy stem in operation during a p ow er fa ilure.
CAUTION: The server must always be operated with the system covers on. Proper cooling is not
achieved when the system c o vers are removed .
System covers
The access panel and the front bezel are both det achable. Both system covers must be r emoved and
detached before removing or replacing non-hot-plug components. Servers configured with h ot-plug
drives require only the front bezel to be remov ed to remove and r eplace hot-plug drives.
Access p ane l
To remove the access panel:
1. If necessary, unlock the uni t using the supplied key .
2. Loosen the captive thumbscrews located on t h e r ear edge of the access panel.
3. Slide the panel back about 1.3 cm (0.5 in).
NOTE: The access panel does not need to be removed for removal and replacement of hot-plug
drives.
