4. Tap any of the gestures under Shortcut gestures, and then select an action.
Use TalkBack Context Menus
TalkBack has a global context menu for controlling continuous reading and TalkBack controls and a local
context menu for controlling the selected text or item on the screen.These menus can be accessed using
TalkBack shortcut gestures.
1. Turn TalkBack on.
2. Do one of the following:
To open the global context menu, use one finger to swipe down and right in one continuous
movement.
To open the local context menu, use one finger to swipe up and right in one continuous
movement.
Note: If you already changed the TalkBack shortcut gestures, check your TalkBack settings for the
appropriate gesture.
3. Double-tap an item on the menu to select.
Change the TalkBack Reading Speed and Pitch
Important: The steps below are described using the regular gestures. Use the corresponding TalkBack
gestures if you already have TalkBack turned on.
1. Tap > > Settings.
2. Tap Accessibility > Text-to-speech output.
3. Drag the Speech rate and Pitch sliders to the right to increase or left to decrease.
4. Tap Listen to an example to hear the speech rate and pitch you've set.
Tip: Tap Reset speech rate or Reset speech pitch to revert the settings to their default values.
Change the TalkBack Language Settings
1. Tap > > Settings.
2. Tap Accessibility > Text-to-speech output.
3. Tap next to Google Text-to-speech Engine, and then do any of the following:
Select a different language: Tap Language.
Install a language: Tap Install voice data, and then tap the language. Tap next to the
voice data you want to install. When installation is completed, press twice and tap
Language.
