4 Installation and Commissioning

Smoking and sparks are prohibited near ESMs.
Use installation tools with insulated handles. Otherwise, the ESMs may be burned and
injury may be caused.
Before operating ESMs, wear goggles, rubber gloves, and protective clothes. Remove any
conductive objects, such as watches, bracelets, bangles, and rings.
Do not use metal to simultaneously touch two or more terminals of the ESM. Do not use
metal to touch both an ESM terminal and a grounded object such as a battery cabinet.
Otherwise, a short circuit will occur, which may produce sparks.
It is recommended that the power and battery systems be equipped with qualified
firefighting facilities onsite, such as firefighting sand and dry powder extinguishers.
Do not place installation tools on the ESM during installation. After the installation, do not
place foreign matters on or around the ESM.
Segregate the installation place, arrange dedicated guardians, and place warning signs of
"danger" and "high voltage" above the ESM and separators.
Wear anti-high-voltage clothing (including gloves and shoes) according to the high voltage
and safety requirements, and wear ESD gloves and wrist straps.
Use dedicated insulation tools. Metal tools such as torque wrenches must be insulated
before they are used.
