Chapter 5 Booting and Configuration
5.1 Setting Up Configuration Environment
The procedures for setting up the configuration environment are described in the
following paragraphs (the following figure is given as an illustration):
Connect S3526 with a configuration terminal (In this case, a PC) with a piece of
console cable
Complete the setting of the terminal communications parameters.

5.2 Connecting the Console Cable
Step 1: Plug the DB-9/25 connector of the console cable to the serial interface of the PC
or terminal where the switch is to be configured.
Step 2: Connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to the console of the switch.
5.3 Setting Parameters of the Terminal
Step 1: Start the PC and run a terminal emulation program such as the Terminal of
Windows3.1 or the Hyper Terminal of Windows95/98/NT.
Step 2: Set terminal parameters (taking the hyper terminal parameter settings in
Windows98 as example).
