7.5 Assembling the starter unit

Ret the starter against the crankcase and tighten
the screws as outlined in Figure 9. Tightening
torque 2.5 - 3.9 Nm.
7.4 Replacing a broken recoil spring

Exercise care to ensure the spring
does not y out and cause perso-
nal injury. Wear protective goggles.

Loosen the screw as outlined in Figure 8 and re-
move the starter pulley and the spring cassette.

Replace the faulty spring cassette.

7.6 Testing the ignition module
In case of a fault in the ignition system, the ignition
module must be tested before the ignition system
is dismantled.
Check the ignition module as follows:
• Unscrew the spark plug. Fit the 507 71 13-01
spark plug to the ignition cable and connect the
cabling used to test the 577 83 18-01 ignition
module as outlined in Figure 10.
• Turn over the engine with the starter cord.
• If a spark appears on the test spark plug, the
ignition module is not faulty.
