clear the symbol.

then

DIRECT key.
The
Outgoing
Call in
Process
symbol

should
be displayed
until
the
In
Use
symbol

) appears.
Note:
Under some conditions, the
Call
Progress Signal symbol
(
-+~,,--N

) will be displayed. The
Call
Progress Signal
is
from
the X.21 network and indicates the status
of
the network or
of
the remote
terminal. The meaning
of
the
Call
Progress
Signal depends on the two
digits (
n n ) after
t'~
in
the
Call
Progress Signal symbol.

When the
network
connection
is
established,
the
Outgoing
Call in Process
symbol
(-+---
)
or
the
Outgoing Call in Process
with
Call Progress
Signal
symbol
(
-+----z-N
nn
) will disappear
and
the In Use
symbol
( N ) will be displayed in
the
left section
of
the
Operator
Information
Area.
Note:
If
you
have trouble between steps 2 and 4, press the
key
while holding down
AL
T and then press the DISC
key
to return to step
1.
If
host communication does
not
begin within approximately 60 seconds
after the
In-Use symbol appears, the network connection ends automatic-
ally and the In-Use symbol disappears. (Host communication
is
indicated
by
the absence
of
a 5
nn
communication e"or,

or 521
reminder.)
If
this occurs,
go
back to step
1.

application
may
require
you
to
perform
a logon
procedure
before
you
can
enter
data.
Perform
the
logon
procedure
if
required.
6. Key in the message
data,
and
press the
ENTER
key
or
the
PF
key
specified
for
your
application. When
you
have finished
the
message, go
to
step
7.

Note
the
formatted
display
or
host
system response
on
your
screen.
If
required,
press the
RESET
key
and
continue
keying
the
message data.
Then
press
the
ENTER
or
PF
key
when
you
have finished
your
message.

When
the
data
transmission is finished,
the
network
connection
is
disconnected
by
one
of
th~
following:

Pressing

automatic
timeout

the
terminal.
While
disconnection
is in process, the In Use

They
will
disappear
when
disconnection
is
completed.
Note:
For items

c,
the
Clear
Indication symbol

You
are
now
free
to
send a
new
message
or
to
receive a message
from
the
host.
