RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT
Tone squelch operation
The tone squelch opens only when receiving a signal
containing a matching subaudible tone. You can
silently wait for calls from group members using the
same tone.
q Push [VFO/MEMO] to select VFO mode.
w Push the desired band key.
e Push [AM/FM] several times to select FM mode.
r Push [TONE] several times until TSQL appears
in the function display.
t When the received signal includes a matching
tone, squelch opens and the signal can be heard.
When the received signals tone does not match, tone
squelch does not open, however, the S-indicator shows
signal strength.
To open the squelch manually, push [XFC].
y Operate the transceiver in the normal way.
u To cancel the tone squelch, push [TONE] to clear
TSQL.
Setting the tone squelch tone
The transceiver has 50 tones from 67.0 Hz to
254.1 Hz.
q Select FM mode.
w Push [TONE] for 1 sec. to enter tone set mode.
e Push [(F-2)] to select the tone squelch tone item.
r Rotate the tuning dial to select the desired tone
squelch frequency.
t Push [EXIT/SET] to exit tone set mode.
Available tone squelch tones (Unit: Hz)
Store tone squelch frequencies and ON/OFF settings
in memory channels for easy recall.
