  If no sound is coming from the speaker of your Icom Receiver, there are several things you can check: * Ensure the volume level isn't too low by rotating the [AF GAIN] clockwise. * Make sure the squelch isn't closed by rotating [SQUELCH] counterclockwise. * Disconnect any external speakers or headphones that may be connected. * If you're in CW narrow mode and don't have an optional filter installed, select another mode or install the filter.

  First, ensure the DC power cable is securely connected. If that doesn't work, check for a blown fuse and replace it. When using an AC adapter, make sure the jumper connector is connected to the [DC13.8V] jack on the receiver's rear panel. If using an external 12 V DC, connect it to the [DC13.8V] jack, as the [DC IN] jack is only for the AC adapter (AD-55/A/V).

  If you cannot write a memory name on your Icom Receiver, it could be because a frequency hasn't been programmed into the memory channel yet. Push [MW] for 1 second in advance. Also, ensure you push [ENT] after setting the name and that the [MW] key is not used for name programming.

How to improve the sensitivity of my Icom Receiver?

  If the sensitivity of your Icom Receiver is low, check the following: 1. Ensure the coaxial cable isn't cut and fix it if it is. 2. Verify an antenna is connected. 3. Make sure the connected antenna is matched to the receiving frequency. 4. Check that you're using the correct antenna connector for V/UHF and HF antennas. 5. In set mode, confirm the proper antenna connector (SO-239 or phono (RCA)) is selected for the HF antenna. 6. Ensure an RF attenuator isn't activated by pushing [ATT 10 dB] or [ATT 20 dB] to cancel the function.
