5.4.5 Braking Components
Resistance of braking resistors
During braking, almost all the regenerative energy of the motor is consumed by the
braking resistor. The resistance of the braking resistor is calculated by the following
formula: U x U/R = Pb.
U indicates the braking voltage for stable system braking. The value of U varies with
systems. The default braking voltage of the AC drive is 760 V, which can be adjusted
through F9‑08.
Pb indicates the braking power.
Power of braking resistors
In theory, the power of the braking resistor is the same as the braking power.
However, in consideration of the derating coefficient K, the power of the braking
resistor is calculated by the following formula: K x Pr = Pb x D.
