4 Using the Setup Program
The BIOS Setup program is for viewing and changing the BIOS settings for a computer. The
BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the Power-On Self-Test (POST)
memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins. This chapter describes the
contents of the BIOS Setup Program’s screens.

The Setup screens described in this section apply to desktop boards with BIOS identifier
CA81020A.86A. Desktop boards with other BIOS identifiers might have differences in some of the
Setup screens.
For reference purposes, you should write down the current Setup settings. When you make
changes to the settings, update this record.
Table 5 shows the menus available from the menu bar at the top of the BIOS Setup program
screen.

BIOS Setup Program Menu Screen Description
Maintenance Used for clearing the BIOS Setup program passwords and provides
access to extended configuration options. This menu is only available
in configure mode.
Main Displays system configuration information and allows user to reset the
time and date.
Advanced Specifies advanced features available through the chipset.
Security Specifies passwords and security features.
Power Specifies power management features.
Boot Specifies boot options and power supply controls.
Exit Saves or discards changes to the BIOS Setup program options.
