andsecuritysettings.Thesepacketsarecalledbeacons.Anyclientthatwantstojoinawirelessnetworklistensfor
thesebeaconframes,andanywirelessclientalreadyconnectedalsoreceivesthemwhenevertheyaresentout.The
beaconintervalcontrolshowoftentheaccesspointbroadcaststhebeaconframes.Possiblevaluesrangefrom20to
1000(ms).Theshorterthebeaconinterval,themoreoftenthebeaconframesaresentout.Themoreoftenthebeacon
framesaresentout,thequickertheassociationandroamingprocesswillbe,butitalsoleadstomorenetwork
overhead,whichthenleadstoadropinthroughputperformance.Youcanincreasethebeaconintervaltoreducethe
networkoverhead,butthatcomesattheexpenseofaslightlyslowerassociationtime,whichmeansittakesjustalittle
bitlongerforwirelessclientstojointhenetwork.Thedefaultvalueis100.
DataBeaconRate(ms):Thedatabeaconrate,alsocalledDTIM(deliverytrafficindicationmap)ratenotifiesawireless
clientwithpower‐savemodehowmanybeaconsuntilbufferedmulticasttrafficwillbebroadcastbytheaccesspoint.
ThehighertheDTIMrate,thelongeraclientdevicemaysleepandthereforethemorepowerthatparticularclient
devicemaypotentiallysave.Youcanspecifyavaluebetween1and255.Thedefaultvalueis1,whichmakestheDTIM
IntervalthesameastheBeaconInterval.
RTSThreshold:RTS(requesttosend)packetsaresentbywirelessclientstoaccesspoints.Theclientsessentiallyaskfor
permissiontosendthenextdatapacket.Thelowerthethreshold,themorestableyourwirelessnetwork,sinceit
essentiallyasksmoreoftenwhensendingpackages.Thedefaultvalueis2347,andyouarewelladvisedtoleavethis
valueunchanged.
BroadcastSSID:Ifdisabled,theIntellinetAC600AccessPointwillnolongerbroadcastitsnetworknametothepublic.
NotethathidingtheSSIDisnotasecurityfeature.Ifyouwanttokeepunauthorizedusersfromaccessingyourwireless
network,youneedtoenablewirelessWPA2encryption.

WMMfortheSSIDsoftheIntellinetAccessPointyoucanalreadyachieveanoticeableimprovementofthequalityof
service.
APIsolation:Whenactivated,wirelessclientsareisolatedfromoneanother.Wirelessclientscanonlycommunicate
withotherclientsthatareconnectedviatheLANportoftheIntellinetAccessPoint.APisolationpreventswireless
clienttoclienttraffic,includingbroadcasts.Usethisoptiontoprovideadditionalprotectionforyourwirelessusersina
publicnetwork.
ShortGI:Thisoptionactivatestheshortguardinterval(SGI),whichcanincreaseyourwirelessperformancebyupto
11%.Ifyourwirelessaccesspointisinstalledinaverycrowdednetworkenvironment,withdifferentaccesspoints
occupyingdifferentchannelsallaroundyou,theslowerguardintervalof800nswillprovidebetterresults.
20/40MHzCoexist:
Whensetto20/40MHz,theIntellinetAccessPointwill‘playnice’withotherwirelessnetworksin
range,meaning,itwillcreatelessoverlaptoandinterferencewithotherwirelessnetworksinrange.Inorderto
achievethemaximumperformanceintermsofpurelinkspeed,thisvalueshouldbesetto40MHz.However,inbusy
networkenvironmentswithmanywirelessnetworks,using40MHzcanactuallybedetrimentaltotheperformance.
Thatisbecauseyourwirelessnetworkoccupiesamuchlargerfrequencyspectrumandisthereforesubjecttoa
potentiallylargeramountofinterference.
