3. STARTING THE ENGINE
Start the engine in accordancewith the
enginestarting instructions on page 24.
4. HOW TO OPERATE THE MOWER
a. Throttle lever
Turn the lever to the mGH SPEED
position (

Caution:
When leaving the mower, be sure to
stop the engine and turn the throttle
lever to the STOP position (~).
b. Blade-brake-clutch lever (Type B)
Grasp the lever, and the blade starts
rotating.
• On grass which has grown too taIl, the
engine may stall when the lever is
grasped. In such a case, lift up the
mower deck front by pushing down
the handle bar when operating the le-
ver.
The clutch will then engage
smoothly.

Caution:
Operate the lever quickly. Slow op-
eration of the lever causes a half-en-
gaged condition of the clutch, which
will lead to abnormal wear and final
seizure of the clutch. (Type B)
c. Travel-clutch lever
The mower starts travelling when the
lever is grasped and stops when the
lever is released.
• When the lever is grasped, the mover
starts travelling
but the cutter does not
turn
(Type B). Consequently, the
mower can move self-propelled to an-
other place without mowing.
Note:
In ordinaryoperation, the travel-clutch
lever should be operated only when

b. LEVIER D'EMBRAYAGE- FREIN DE
LAME (TYPE B)
Saisir le levier et le pousser vers le
guidon, la lamecommence alors

• Dans l' herbe haute le moteurpeut caler
al'embrayage de la lame.
Dans ce cas, soulever l'avant de la
tondeuse en appuyant sur le guidon et
en amenant Ie levier d'embrayage de
lame vers I'avant. L'embrayage de la
lame se fera plus facilement.

Attention:
Manipulerfranchement lelevier. Une
position ami course fait patiner I' em-
brayage et conduita une usure rapide
de ce dernier (type B).
c. LEVIER D'EMBRAYAGE DES ROUES
La tondeuse commence aavancerquand
Ie levier est amene vers le guidon et
s' arrete quand
il est reIache.
. Quandle levierest poussevers I'avant,
la jondeuse avance mais la lame ne
tourne pas (type B). La tondeuse peut
done etre deplacee
d'un endroit aun
autre sans que la lame ne toume.
Note:
- L' avancement de la tondeuse ne doit
etre commands qu'apres embrayage
