Animproperlyadjustedclutchwirewill
cause clutch malfunction.
ADJUSTMENT
1. Adjust the wire so that the wire spring
has a clearance 1.0 to 1.5 mm (0.04
-
0.06 in.) between the coils when the
travel-clutchlever is grasped. Be sure
thatthewirehasafreeplay
of2
to5mm
(0.08 - 0.20 in.) when thelever is re-
leased.
2. Adjustthe wirelengthby looseningthe
lock nut and turning the adjusting nut.
3. Starttheengineandmakesurethelever
functions properly: the mower should
starttravellingwhentheleveris grasped
and stop when the lever is released.

An improperly adjusted blade-brake-
clutch wirewill affectthe proper func-
tion of the cutter-clutch mechanism.
ADJUSTMENT
1. Adjust so that the wire spring has a
clearanceof0.5to0.7mm(0.02to0.03
in.) between the coils when thecutter-
clutchleveris grasped.Be surethatthe
wire has a free play of 1 to 3 mm (0.04
to 0.12 in.) when the lever is released.
2. Adjustthewirelengthby looseningthe
lock nut and turning the adjusting nut.
3. Starttheengine
andmakesurethelever
functions properly: the blade should
startrotating whenthe lever is grasped
and the blade stops when the lever is
released.
